On May 25th, 2014 Michael Wayne May & Alix Whitmire plan to throw a picnic preceded by a bonding ritual in which the latter will lose her last name and gain a month in return (this is more commonly known as a wedding). If you have not already, you should be receiving an invitation by post.
The wedding bit will start at 3:30p (1530), followed immediately by the picnic in the same venue (Raceway Rotary Park in White Cloud, Michigan) that will go on until 7:30p (1930) or everyone takes off. There is picnic table seating, but feel welcome to bring a blanket/camp chairs/etc. if you'd prefer. There's no seating chart, though we may try to maneuver some of y'all together as we think you'll enjoy each other!
If something happens and the venue will not work, the wedding will be held in our backyard instead. Please note the location on your maps! If, for some reason, your invitation does not play, let us know and we'll send you another.
Mini-grills, skewers, and various meats and veggies will be provided, as well as appetizers, drinks, and cake. If you bring additional food or drinks, please be aware of allergen cross-contamination and keep those items to your own space.
There is no dress code. Be comfy.
A major point of all this not-eloping business is to say thank you for making us the people we are, and the people we needed to be to be who we are for each other, so no gifts please. If you must do something, please consider donating to SowHope, the Army Emergency Relief Fund, Honor the Earth, or Elves & More of West Michigan.
The DMV provides a quick rundown of Michigan safety laws as relates to automobile transportation, but it can, to some degree, be summed up so: Michigan drivers ride your bumper like nobody's business, please look up "Michigan left" and be prepared for it, and the potholes are worse than you could ever imagine.
We wish you safe travels... and love.
